This privacy policy is to explain what information is collected by visitors of the FreeTube website (FreeTubeApp.io) and how it is used. This privacy policy may be changed or updated at any point in the future.

Your privacy is very important, which is why this site runs without any JavaScript and does not use Google Analytics. This website uses a self hosted instance of Matomo to track visitor statistics. This information is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you. The amount of data collected are as follows: an anonymized IP address, the used web browser, the used operating system, the type of device used, and outcoming / incoming links. An anonymized IP is defined as an IP address that has the last 2 points imitted. For example, if your IP address was 192.168.16.31, your IP will be logged as 192.168.0.0. You can opt-out of these analytics by disabling JavaScript on your browser or by enabling the Do Not Track setting within your web browser.

This privacy policy is to explain what information is collected by users of the FreeTube application and how it is used. This privacy policy may be changed or updated at any point in the future.

Data Collected and How It Is Used

Your privacy is taken very seriously as a FreeTube user. Your subscriptions, history, favorited videos, and settings are saved and stored locally on your machine. This data is never uploaded or saved to any server. All information can be deleted at any time by the user by navigating to the settings page and deleting the information of thier choosing. FreeTube will connect to Invidious (https://invidio.us) to perform API calls which returns data from YouTube. Any relevant information needed for the API call (such as video information or search terms) will be sent to Invidious for the purpose of returning the relevant data and their privacy policy may apply. More information about Invidious' Privacy Policy can be found here. FreeTube has the option to use 3rd party hosted instances of Invidious. These third party instances may include their own privacy policy different from FreeTube and Invidious that may apply. FreeTube will connect to YouTube.com for the purpose of delivering images and videos to the user. FreeTube will connect to GitHub.com for the purpose of checking for updates. The connection to GitHub.com is optional and can be turned off in the settings. Your IP address will be sent to each server for the connection. A VPN is strongly recommended to avoid having your IP address from being sent.
